[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of “The Color of Evil series (E-book)” by Connie (Corcoran) Wilson.]

Book Cover

I just finished reading The Color of Evil Series by Connie Corcoran Wilson. It was a great murder/mystery trilogy that was written in a way that did not make my stomach queasy from overly graphic descriptions.

Tad is a young boy with a very unique condition. He can see people’s auras. His best friend is Stevie. Stevie also has a unique condition. When he was born, his skull was not equipped to handle his brain growing. As a result, once the surgery was done, his head was misshapen. While there are many characters in this series, these two are the main ones.

Tad’s life is forever changed on his eighth birthday. His ability to see auras alerts him to the fact that the clown hired to be at his party is not a good guy. Soon after his party, he starts having nightmares that involve Pogo, the clown from his party. No one believes him about what is happening in his dream and he ends up being admitted into a mental hospital. The nightmares go away once Pogo is caught, but that does not mean that everything is at an end.

Stevie has been abused by some people that should have kept him safe. He keeps this secret though. When he goes missing, it is Tad that ends up leading the charge to find him. This is when people really start believing in Tad’s abilities. Tad’s ability to see events in his dreams comes in handy more than once and helps to save people’s lives.

This book pulled at my emotions more than once, and there were parts that kept me at the edge of my seat. The characters were a lively bunch that seemed to keep everyone on their toes. I found my self engaged in the story and had a hard time laying it down to get anything else done.

I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. There are several errors and places where the wrong character’s name was used, but overall, it did not really take away from the plot. I love a good murder mystery and this one did a great job of keeping my interest. I am hoping that the author expands on the ending in another book because there is one loose end that did not get tied up.

One thing that I absolutely loved about this boxed set is that after each book, the author took the time to answer questions that the readers had, or clarified a subject matter. This made understanding the book a lot easier and also sent me scurrying to the internet to look up some of the facts that she posted.
